Finding your “ideal client” without being exclusive, insensitive, and rude.
If I had a dollar for every time I read a post from a heart…
I am not an extreme extrovert. I am a studier, I study people and situations before I totally let my personality and silliness shine. Especially when I am in a professional setting, because while I am always a calm and reliable presence to set my client at ease, not every couple or situation is looking for you to be in their face, crazy enthusiastic and making their shoot about you.
That’s where a more relaxed, introverted photographer can shine! Most creative business educators will tell you that you have to be on a certain frequency at all times to attract clients and show them how passionate you are to do a great job.
I say let your passion shine through your skill and your photography. If you are not comfortable being the person who jumps around like they just finished their third Red Bull screaming “yaasssss queen!” at your clients, then don’t pretend to be that person.
Clients that are attracted to you for your relaxed nature and much more importantly, YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY, will not expect you to change who you are, they’ll expect you to give them the client experience that gets them the images they’ve imagined since going through your portfolio and stalking your instagram.
They’ve thought of captions for that photo of their husband spinning them around with their dress flowing around them, not about how entertaining it will be to see you bounce around with a camera in their face.
Be you, whether you’re super bubbly and giddy, or more quiet and calculating, your client wants an authentic experience, not an actor.
